Remodel in Rich Walnut
Kitchen in Scarsdale, New York
This kitchen was designed for a young family who relocated from New York City to Scarsdale. Their main goal was to open up the space by removing the wall that once separated the kitchen and living room, creating an airy, connected environment where they could gather comfortably as a family.
We outfitted this kitchen with custom Craft-Maid cabinetry. Our clients were drawn to the look of flush inset cabinets with slab doors in a natural walnut finish—a style that’s notoriously challenging to execute, as the frame and door often absorb stain differently and can appear mismatched. However, Craft-Maid delivered a seamless, stunning result. The cabinetry is complemented by a striking backsplash behind the hood, made from a single slab of Taj Mahal Quartzite.
A priority for the clients was to maintain completely clean, clutter-free countertops. Instead of traditional upper cabinets, we incorporated counter-height wall cabinets with lower pocket doors to discreetly store small appliances they use daily. Additional features include custom storage solutions like a built-in knife block drawer, utensil dividers, and a pull-out spice cabinet, ensuring everything they need is easily accessible yet neatly tucked away.
