Renovation of a 1920's Colonial in Rye!

Newly empty-nesters, this semi-retired couple decided the time was right to renovate their beautiful 1920’s center hall colonial home in Rye, New York.

For this couple, many cooks in the kitchen was not a problem, it was a new adventure! We collaborated with the homeowners to design a kitchen that would accommodate large family gatherings and meals prepared by multiple chefs. The wish list for the kitchen included a five-burner cooktop, double ovens, a large built-in refrigerator, a pantry and display unit for the breakfast room and easy-access storage for tableware. To establish an uninterrupted work area, we suggested modifications to the footprint of the kitchen which included removing an existing chimney, partially removing interior walls, moving windows and closing up an open staircase.

As part of the larger renovation, we designed and provided cabinetry for the master bathroom, a second floor hall bathroom and a new, third floor guest bathroom. Additionally, the family room was expanded and presented an opportunity for a beautiful new built-in wall unit to house books, electronics and a space for a large television.
